3 Common Beauty Blips And How To Fix Them Quickly

We’re well-versed in how to look after ourselves. We know what food we should eat and how much sleep we should get each night. We don’t always adhere to this advice, but it’s not because we’re not aware of it. Most of the time we live with the consequences. But what do you do if you have a big event looming and you have a blemish, or you can’t fit into your dress? There’s not enough time to appear as though you get eight hours of sleep a night, and drink ten glasses of water each day. Here’s how to fix those common beauty blips with no fuss and in record time.

  1. Problems With Teeth

There are many aesthetic problems we encounter with our teeth. One of those is discoloration. If your teeth are looking less than pearly white, there are a few quick fixes you can apply. Many factors lead to discolored or yellowing teeth. This could be due to the food you eat or to smoking, etc. Your dentist can advise on the best course of action. However, for a quick fix, use a trusted whitening toothpaste or whitening pen. This will remove stains and provide a whitening effect.

Many people suffer from chipped or broken teeth. This can be a source of embarrassment and can lead to a lack of self-confidence. If it’s one or two teeth that are the problem, there is a simple solution. Your dentist can apply composite veneers. He or she will match the veneers to your teeth, and this can be completed in one visit. So it leaves you with ample time to fix your smile for your big event.

  1. Dry Flaky Skin

Most skin issues can be avoided by simple adjustments to your lifestyle. But we don’t have time for that right now. You’re trying to apply your makeup, but your skin is flaking underneath. You’re going to need to start from the beginning. You can either wash your face with your usual cleanser or apply a gentle exfoliator. If you go for the first option, gently wash your skin with a flannel or muslin cloth if you have one. Use lots of cleanser and don’t rub too hard. This should remove the excess flaky skin. On completion, add your usual moisturizer and allow it to sink in.

If using an exfoliator, follow the instructions and wash your face accordingly. This will also slough away dead skin. Follow with your moisturizer as in the example above.

Before applying your foundation cream, use a primer to prepare the area. This will provide an even surface for your makeup. Take care when applying makeup. Don’t apply too much pressure or rub too hard.

  1. You Can’t Fit Into Your Dress

Okay, this is a tricky one. The solution depends on the extent to which it no longer fits. If it’s just a bit tight and your bumps are showing in the wrong places, we might be able to fix it. Find some toning underwear or pantyhose that will create a flatter and smoother silhouette. Now try your dress on again.

If you can’t do up the zip, you’re going to have to rethink. But a new outfit isn’t the end of the world. Right?

How To Meditate In One Minute

It only takes sixty seconds and I promise you will be less stressed. Sit or stand, either way you will be relaxed in one minute. Don’t worry about leaving the room, you can literally meditate anywhere.

Inhale for five seconds, hold your breath for five seconds, and then exhale for five seconds. Repeat this for one minute. Don’t you feel better?

If you are stressed before a big meeting prep the morning of! Sit cross-legged in a quiet area. Close your eyes and concentrate on the space between your eyebrows. Repeat a mantra like “Inner peace begins with me” Now feel your pulse, concentrate on those thumps and continue to do the full meditation for one minute.

If you are feeling down take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Close your eyes and imagine three positive things that will happen to you. Do this for five minutes. Concentrating on the positive will help you calm down and appreciate all the wonderful things you have going for you!

Frenchie Friday: How To Keep A Dog Calm During Fireworks

July 4th is approaching quickly and I’m incredibly nervous about our first firework display with Boomer. I looked up some tips to keep him calm and thought I would share with you all as well!

  1. Play firework sounds throughout the week so it’s a familiar sound to the pup. Start the sound off soft and then gradually increase the volume. 
  2. Be home with them. It’s not fair to just lock them in a room while you go out. Be mindful of the anxiety the experience and let them know you are there with them.
  3. Keep them inside with doors and windows closed. When dogs get frightened they are known to bolt so make sure he has a tag on and is chipped. Ideally put them in a room with window shades drawn, the sudden lights could disoriented them as well.
  4. Make them tired! Take them to the parade in the morning, play with them all day and take them for a walk in the afternoon. Do all that you can to make sure that they are tired so they have less energy to freak out. 
  5. Turn on the tv or radio for them. Having other sounds start a couple of hours before dark helps them associate those sounds with calm feelings. 
  6. If they feel the need to hide let them. If he wants to hang out in his crate or hide under his blanket don’t force him out.
