I have written a lot about skincare in the past. But, one area that I haven’t covered is all to do with the food and drink you consume, and how it can have a significant impact on your skin’s appearance. You are what you eat, as they say, so if you are struggling to improve your skin, perhaps a change in diet might help. Here are five foods that can give you that glow you have been looking for.
Not many of us need an excuse to eat more strawberries, but I’m about to give you a few anyway. Did you know that the humble strawberry contains more vitamin C per serving than oranges or grapefruit? And, of course, anyone with a diet high in vitamin C tends to have far fewer wrinkles and skin problems than those that don’t. Strawberries also do a lot to protect against free radicals and give you a lot of moisture to fight dehydration, too. In short, eat them whenever they are in season, and you should see the benefits almost immediately.
Still drinking coffee in the morning? Why not change your habit and drink green tea instead? Plenty of studies suggest green tea or matcha powder can help reduce damage from the sun on your skin. It is also thought to give you protection against UV rays. Green tea is an anti-inflammatory, too, meaning it can help fight against the aging process. There’s no evidence that it can improve your wrinkles and skin damage, but there’s no denying it can slow down the process.
Tomatoes are, quite simply, awesome little fruits. They can help you fight against signs of acne, for a start, thanks to the vast amount of lycopene they contain. There is also a little amount of evidence suggesting tomatoes also have UV protection properties, too. So, if you love getting out in the sun a lot, make sure you are dining on tomatoes at least three to five times a week to give you a bit more protection.
Again, I don’t need much of an excuse to tuck into seafood of any kind. And, neither should you, because it has so many properties that help your skin. A recent study found that people who have a diet high in seafood and fish tend to endure fewer wrinkles and skin aging. It’s because they are packed full of omega-3 fatty acids, which help to fight inflammation and stops the formation of wrinkles. Seafood is also awesome for combating acne – so stock up on your fish if you want to beat the occasional breakout!
Of course, you don’t have to spend much money at all to find the best cure for most skin ailments – just drink more water! Make sure you are drinking at least eight glasses a day – maybe even more if you are working out or it’s a hot day. You can even try flavoring your water with a twist of fruit – or something like cucumber.
Hope this has helped – let me know if you know of any other skin-boosting foods!
Here are a few white hot styles for Memorial Day and beyond

The best and easiest way of making sure you have great skin is to moisturize on a regular basis. This gives you skin valuable nutrients and minerals. Before you moisturize, you need to make sure you clean your skin. This means opening up the pores and clearing away the dead skin. The best way to do this is to make sure you exfoliate when you wash. So many people are obsessed with getting a tight midsection, but nobody knows how to do it properly. There’s a lot of conflicting information out there, so you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ll get the midsection of your dreams by doing thousands of crunches. This isn’t the case! The tips in this guide will help you tighten yours up the right way:
Diet, Diet, Diet
The first thing you need to master if you really want a tight midsection is your diet. You can do as many crunches as you like. You can even smash out a ton of cardio. But if you aren’t focusing on your diet, you aren’t going to get a tight midsection. For your stomach to look the best it has ever looked, you should be focusing on eating lots of vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Things that are natural are best for a tight tummy. When you have the diet part down, you can move on to other things to enhance your efforts.
Cardio can help burn more fat or calories depending on which kind you do. HIIT cardio is shorter and more intense. While it does burn calories, the main goal of it is to fire up the metabolism, and keep it burning for hours afterwards. This helps your body to continue burning calories and fat long after you’ve finished. This is why you shouldn’t pay much attention to how much the machine says you’ve burned! Steady state has it’s place too. In fact, a good walk can burn more fat than a run. A run will burn more calories, putting you in a surplus, but burning fat will change the shape of your body. The main thing is to make sure you’re doing enough cardio to get results, but not so much that you get tired of it. Find the balance and see what works for you. It’s different for everybody. If you really don’t have time for cardio, treatments like coolsculpting can give similar results that last providing the rest of your routine is on point.
Non-weighted Stomach Exercises
People get so confused when it comes to stomach exercises. What exactly do you need to do to get a shredded tummy? If you want more definition, non weighted stomach exercises will suffice. Things like hip raises, hanging leg raises, russian twists, and crunch variations are fine. Some people avoid working the sides of their tummy altogether as they get paranoid that it will get thicker. However, you’ll usually have nothing to worry about unless you begin using weights. Using weights on your stomach muscles can leave you with a blockier midsection. If you’re working out properly the rest of the time, your core should also be getting a workout. This is why some people don’t bother training their abs at all, and still get results. Some train them every other day. It totally depends on your goals and the way your body responds. Experiment!
Losing excess water can make your tummy seem tighter, even if it is only temporary. To do this, you need to be drinking 3-4 litres of water a day, while flushing out the excess with saunas and hot baths.
For those particularly close to you, you want to make their birthday count. You want to go beyond the usual paltry attempts people usually make on birthdays. More than just a cake with candles for blowing out. You want to make them feel special. If there’s a man in your life that you particularly like, planning the best birthday could be what makes him realise just how lucky he is to have you.
A lot of women have trouble buying guys a present they’ll really like. There are a lot of colognes being bought, to the point where it’s boring and a bit of a disappointment, really. Instead, push the boat out a little with some unique and unusual gift ideas. If he likes his drinks, a set of really fine whisky tumblers could win him over big time, for example.
Take a road trip
Take more than just a day to make his birthday special. Make it exciting by going on a road trip together. This is particularly good for those relationships that are starting to get a bit more serious. Not only is it a commitment sharing that space with someone. You also tend to learn a lot about one another while seeing some great sights on the way.
Set up a party
The birthday party might not be the biggest surprise you can give a guy. But you can customise it a bit to make it more personalised for him. Getting his family or friends to help out is vital. Find the things that he loves and make them a central theme. If he likes his fine dining, for example, he might appreciate a birthday party around cheese and wine tasting.
The gift that keeps on giving
Besides the birthday present, there’s a much more personal gift you can give him to really make it a special time. DIY coupon books are gaining some popularity as a gift. All for good reason. It’s the little things that really make our day after all. So fill a book full of little chores or things you can do for him. They can be sweet or they can be funny.
Take a trip down memory lane
Another gift for the relationships that are starting to get more serious. Celebrate the times you’ve spent together by putting together a scrapbook of all your best bits. Go uncensored with it. Don’t leave out the photos where you’re both looking goofy. This can be the perfect accompaniment to cooking a lovely dinner or having a quiet drink together.
Go on a date
When guys think of dates, normally they think of dinner and a drink, which can honestly be a bit of a chore for them. Most guys simply don’t like being wined and dined as much as we do. That’s why you need to choose a date he’ll really enjoy. It could be a walk down the beach followed with a drink. It could be going to a sports game with him. Whatever it is, make him the focus.
