Things You’d Know To Be True If You Became A Makeup Artist

Want to start thinking like a makeup artist? Well here are four things you would know to be true if you became one. Just don’t tell them we shared their secrets and tricks!

Gorgeous makeup begins with healthy skin

You can have the most incredible, expensive, designer makeup in the world, but it just won’t look as good if it is on unhealthy skin. Makeup, though amazing, can only do so much. If it is going to cover up very unhealthy skin, it has to be applied thickly. This can mean that the application takes a very long time.

On the other hand, makeup goes on easier and quicker is the skin is healthy. This doesn’t mean you have to splash out on weekly facial. Just make sure you are following the simple, basic rules. Wash your face every night. Drink lots of water to keep your face plump and not sallow. Slap on the moisturizer before bed, too. These small action will make a difference to how your makeup looks.

A quality makeup brush really can make all the difference

There are so many different types of makeup brushes out there these days! The choice can be totally overwhelming. As a result, you might think it is just easier to apply your foundation, eye and lip products with your fingers. Well, you might be wrong. Some products really do work better if applied with a brush. With foundation, for example, the product can be blended in your skin better with a buffing brush than with your fingers. With lipstick, if you apply it with a brush it will usually stay on longer. One of the best things about using brushes is that they make your makeup last longer.

While makeup brushes can be expensive, it might be a sensible investment if it will help you get more out of your products. After all, if you have to reapply your lipstick six times a day with your fingers, or just twice with a brush, you’re using less of the product.

More affordable products can work just as well as expensive ones

Makeup artists work with makeup products and brand every single day. They’ve made a career out of knowing the good ones from the bad ones, and the effective items from the ineffective items. This means that they know that sometimes, cheap and cheerful products can be just as good as their designer equivalent. Don’t be fooled by fancy packaging and advertising campaigns; make up artists aren’t!

Washing your applicators is so crucial

A good makeup artist will wash her makeup brushes every few days if she’s just used them on herself. She’ll wash them everyday if she is using them on different people. This is because the fibers are very prone to picking up different bacterias. Once the bacteria is on the brush, it can be easily transferred onto your skin. Follow their example and wash your brushes often. Otherwise, you could be putting yourself at risk of bad skin, spots and blackheads.
