If you follow me on instagram you saw my post about the best brunch drink ever. Fill one glass of champagne with a splash of pomegranate juice. Add a splash of fresh orange juice and a little brown sugar. What is your favorite brunch drink?

Bridal shower tea

I just wanted to share with you lovely ladies the beautiful invitation I just got in the mail for my bridal shower. My maid of honor has impeccable taste and always knows how to throw together an elegant and fun soirée so I am so excited to see what’s in store. The invitation is already the most precious thing I’ve seen and I love the wording she chose for my brooch bouquet. I will include details of that next week. Did you have a themed bridal shower?

Living Happily Ever After! How To Get Married In Style

A lot of weddings feel kind of similar to each other these days. There isn’t anything wrong with that – a lot of women have had their ideal dream white wedding in their mind since they were little kids. But those weddings aren’t for everyone. Here are some tips on how you can make your wedding a little more recognisable and unique.

Your Dress

Who says that you have to wear white? The notion of wearing white on your wedding day is an antiquated one and maybe you don’t feel like it’s the right fit for you. If so, your choices are dramatically opened up. Whether you pick a designer gown or you find a vintage dress on eBay, nothing matters as much as you feeling comfortable in it. If you would like to go for white but you want something a little different, go for a 1950s style knee length dress, or maybe get inspired by the sleek, chic shapes of the 1920s with some nude pumps. Just make sure you steer away from the big meringue dresses!

Your Venue And Decorations

Consider hand-making your own decorations to ensure that they’re all your style. If you’re a couple who bonded over books, buy some second hand ones to make paper decorations, and if you both love music then maybe the couple on the top of your cake can be a pair of rock stars instead of a normal bride and groom. No matter what you do, make it personal to you.

Your Photography

Make sure that you look at the portfolio of every photographer that you consider hiring before you make your final decision. You could also ask to look at examples of their photography that isn’t just wedding related for extra ideas on what you could do for your wedding shoot. Brainstorm together with your husband to be to figure out a creative way to pose together.

Your Food

Maybe a three course sit down meal isn’t your style and you want a little more variety and choice. Consider a hot buffet so guests have more choice over what they decide to eat. If you want to go all out, you could even hire food trucks so your guests can choose from fun food like fried chicken and donuts, burritos, and high quality burgers. You could even rent stands that give out cotton candy and popcorn for later in the evening. If you don’t feel like getting a traditional wedding cake, maybe get a cake made of cheese instead, or consider a croquembouche.

Your Entertainment

If you want to personalise your music, make your own playlist. A lot of wedding DJs play the same music for every wedding they go to, but if you and your fiancé pick your own music it’ll be much more relevant to you and your guests. Pick songs you danced to at college parties together, songs your dads love, and songs that mean something to you as a couple. If you really want to make a splash, you could hire swing dancers to give your guests some lessons so they know how to boogie around your dancefloor for the rest of the night!

Life unplugged

Over the weekend Dino Boy and I traveled to the mountains. While the visit was due to unfortunate circumstances, it was nice to spend some quality time with his family. Without cell service or WiFi it was a forced break from constant emails and calls and it was exactly what I needed to relax and recharge. Sometimes we need to just step away from the screens and go outside. Take a deep breath of that fresh air and thank God you are alive. I really appreciated being able to experience life distraction free and loved bonding with such a wonderful group of people.
What did you do this weekend?
